Band Saws

Carbide-tipped band saw blades are finding more and more uses in the metal-cutting industry.

They are usually compact in size compared to the pieces to be cut, which are often exceptionally large.

When using carbide-tipped band saw blades to cut metal, you get the advantage of their extremely narrow cutting channel and minimal losses when machining.

With carbide-tipped band saws, small pieces of carbide are welded onto a special carrier material that is not really affected by alternating bending stress – even when subjected to fast cutting speeds.

Ultra-fine grinding is used to give the teeth their geometries, which will depend on the material to be cut. Using band saws effectively to machine metal requires maximum precision as far as the tooth geometry is concerned. Trust us, we know. That's why here at VOLLMER we offer tried-and-tested solutions that have been developed and built with these specific requirements in mind – for tooth top and straight tooth face grinding as well as side grinding on both sides.

But over the past 100 years, we haven't just focused all our attention on the machines. We've also given plenty of thought to the people who have to operate them. And to make their work as straightforward, safe and fun as possible, we've come up with the intuitive and logical VOLLMER operating concept.

CB 400

Carbide-tipped band saw blades are finding more and more uses in the metal-cutting industry. The highest standards are placed on the accuracy of tooth geometries.

As a market leader in sharpening machines for carbide-tipped saw blades, VOLLMER has now developed a new range of machines for precise sharpening of these band saw blades with a blade width of up to 150 mm. It consists of the following machine types:

  • CB 400 CNC-controlled automated sharpening machine for tooth top and straight tooth face grinding

  • CBF 400 CNC-controlled automated sharpening machine for tooth flank grinding on both sides

The machining tools are usually linked together to form a line and the strip stock to be machined is fed from the coil and finish-machined.
